This would be a perfect idea for a garden-themed shower, birthday or tea party. Want to replicate the display? Kelly baked and iced the cupcakes as usual (vanilla pound cake with vanilla buttercream frosting). Then, she set each cupcake inside 2.5 inch terra cotta pots. These can be purchased at craft stores.

Don’t forget the love birds. A perfect finish to the display.

I have a thing for ice cream sundaes you see.

Make them ‘mini’ and put ‘em in a shot glass and I’m officially in love.  I WILL be doing this and stacking them on The Cupcake Tower.  Mark my words

Do you see it do you see it?  You know how I’m always challenging you to use your Tower in new and unique ways?  Well Jennifer Sbranti of Hostess with the Mostess did just that.  She took one layer of The Cupcake Tower and used it as a cake stand, for a massive cake nonetheless!  I love the faux diamond ribbon that she adorned it with…

and then there’s the donut tower with fondant peonies…

Happy Friday, are you using your Cupcake Tower this weekend?

I went on an online shopping spree at Party City and found these napkins and cups which I decided would set the theme.  They’re a part of a baby shower package but I just purchased the items that had nothing written on them.

I also found these bowls

So cute! I used my new chalkboard clothespins that I recently bought on Groopdealz (unique and adorable items – a lot of it great for throwing parties) and had Joy write on them with her fancy shmancy handwriting

For The Cupcake Tower I wanted to find something resembling a ‘lion mane’ so I headed to Jo Ann’s and found this fur

And now onto the cupcakes.  I decided to leave the baking to the experts this year. Enter Cake Crumbs, my neighborhood bakery and home of The Denver Cupcake Truck.  I gave them the picture of the napkin, chose my flavors and those little baking geniuses handed over the cutest little lion cake topper:

and of course some delicious and equally adorable cupcakes

So fun!

It was a gorgeous day so we grilled burgers and hot dogs, had snacks, salads, etc.  We served homemade mint tea thanks to my sister in law Ingrid (I seriously contemplated hiding it and keeping it all to myself…it’s that good) and also served Izze sodas and some ‘libations’ for us 21+ kids.

We had a blast but more importantly, so did Jack.  I love you buddy…

We had a big Easter event at my house last Saturday. The donuts were a huge hit with the kids and the adults were all impressed with the presentation. (Bummer that the frosting ran so much, but they still tasted great and no one seemed to mind.)

Consider getting candy sticks and putting peeps at the end. You can use your cake pop layer to display the peeps-on-a-stick. (Hint: putting peeps on a stick makes them less messy to eat.) Or, just nestle Easter candy around the donuts.

My daughter LOVES these cupcakes not because of how cute they are but because normally I don’t let her use the word ‘butt’.  Let’s just say she called these babies by name all. day. long.

We even made two different ‘breeds’.

I was initially inspired by this cake (from Betty Crocker) seen ‘pinned’ all over Pinterest

Of course I wanted to do a cupcake version so I kept hunting and found exactly what I was looking for in this post on ‘Created by Diane’.  She is much more appropriate than me and calls them ‘Cotton Tail Cupcakes’

Her instructions are brief and simple but don’t be fooled, give yourself plenty of time as they take awhile.   Thank you for the inspiration Diane!

Ours had a couple of minor variations to them, you can see how we made them here.

But they are actually ‘ingeniously’ stacked cookies by ‘The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle‘

Utterly and completely Cupcake Tower worthy.

What’s the difference besides one little ‘o’?  Perhaps they aren’t traditionally as ‘pretty’ or ‘quaint’ but I happen to think they are lovely in their own little way

Particularly when you put them in mini cupcake liners

and display them on your Cupcake Tower (shocking pink ribbon shown)

It’s all in how you dress them up right?  Not to mention they are delicious.
